Bodelwyddan Castle, North Wales 2006

Another early one!

The chaps were engaged by Tony and Denise Lawrence for one of Warner's Jazz Break weekends.





George was down with Bronchitis, so on this occasion we were joined by the sensational Helen Minshull.

As well as being an amazing tuba player, she runs several orchestras, plays in countless brass bands and teaches children in school any brass instrument you can name!





Due to Helen teaching so many people, she has a minibus and she very kindly offered to drive us all down to Wales; much appreciated Helen!

We arrived at Bodelwyddan Castle in good time and were very impressed with the hotel and function room we were to perform in. Once again we were using their PA so enjoyed a fairly leisurely set up. We went back stage and discovered props and costume; it was apparent this was a very busy venue and hosted regular shows of a very high class -- John can be seen modelling a bowler hat, just one of the many hats there.





Helen was particularly impressed with the way Anthony tied his bow tie, very few tie their own you know, we truly are the elite!





Well, despite Helen never having seen the music, let alone a rehearsal, she was amazing. It was like she had been playing the parts for years and we quickly relaxed and enjoyed the concert. The audience were clearly impressed by Helen's solos and showed their appreciation with warm and vigorous applause!

A fantastic gig and great fun, Helen joined in with the jokes and made several remarks shooting me down in flames!! Fantastic! We hope to have Helen with us again.
